The days of the Scholar opps Paper General created from the days of LKY are over. PAP is sticking to its old formula again and again.

Something needs to be done about the SAF Overseas Scholarship. For many years, it had been churning out scholars only to get parachuted into positions of PAP leadership. Less competent ones go to GLCs and they fuck things up there (Ng Yat Chung at NOL).

Give less scholarships, increase the length of the bond, and if you want the SAFOS, be prepared to be in uniform for the rest of your life.

I sense they are doing something. Neo Kian Hong for example is still CDF longer than many of his predecessors. Maybe not a radical but something is aloof. Can't wait to see the next changing of the guard for the CDF

Lee Kong Yeow will be gone by then. Kwa is gone. There is no more strategic guide for a scion of the familee. Years of silver-spoon living ill-prepares one for competitive political fights.

The influx of new migrants, though few will be extremely wealthy, most are from poor to middle income group of less developed countries. At a population of 8 M, new migrants will also feel the stress of overcrowding and high cost of living, just like the rest of us.

In fact, most migrants from PRC and India are ill-prepared for the high cost of living in Singapore. They are just more risk-taking and they will eventually retire back in China/India or move on to greener pastures if doors are opened to them. Singapore, to them, is just a springboard to better places. I really doubt the new migrants' unflinching allegience to the ruling party.
