Organisers for the Singapore Airshow screwed up the exhibition on it’s very first day yesterday (Feb 16) by making visitors queued over 2 hours to exit the venue just because they disallowed taxi booking and demand S$10 surcharge for every taxi picking up passengers. The organiser, Experia Events, claimed that the surcharge is needed to “manage traffic congestion” and this is the first time in 20 years they are implementing the surcharge.

Foreign visitors expressed their frustrations as tempers flared at the staffs of the organiser. Private transport and even bicycles are disallowed. The taxis which came to pick passengers were mostly premium taxis like Chrysler and Mercedes which charge more than twice the usual rate. Even the shuttle bus charges S$8 per trip to the Singapore Expo station.

The organiser has in response said that they will make arrangements with taxi companies to ensure a steady supply of cabs but they intend to continue profiting from the S$10 surcharge. The event will continue for the next 5 days.

What's wrong with making money

Nothing wrong with making more money, or indeed even more money..

..but if a business practise blatant profiteering right from the start and screw up the customers, then it is not only wrong but there will be a price to pay in terms of customer response to the offers. Don't say $10 is nothing, but if you try to profiteer on it for a service that every customer obviously need to get to & from the grounds of the show, you are going to pay for it eventually in terms customer feedback, satisfaction, etc. Just wait and see

It doesn't matter what you think.. The most important is how the customer think.. The customer gives you the middle finger.. You can kiss your business goodbye.. I expect the subsequent airshow to be no show..

pay $10 surcharge, dbl the usual fees and have to queue for >2 hrs. One would think that paying such high premiums would negate any waiting times..

This is akin to conditional kidnapping.

You have to pay a "ransom" of $10 in order to be released. In the meantime, your friends or family members are not allowed to drive their cars to pick you up.

This cannot be termed in as organizers demanding a surcharge. They are demanding a "ransom".

You are such a stupid cunt. Always saying people don't use their brains nowadays, but you are the ones with shit for brains. You think the taxi companies suka suka just decided to add a $10 surcharge to CEC for no reason? You ever ask yourself why they never have a $10 surcharge on any other months of the year to pick up fare at CEC but only for the Airshow? Have you read the article which says mostly premium taxis are the ones picking up passengers, or are you illiterate too?

Let me spell it out for you. They are charging the $10 surcharge because Experia Events is getting part or all of it. They are kicking it back to the show organizers. Non premium taxis are not going there to pick passengers up because they wouldn't kick it back. Of course, when you get your head out of the lap of a bangla, you can call Experia to see how much money they get from each $10 surcharge.

By the way, Experia is another GLC, so in keeping with all PAP GLCs, their mandate is to suck money from peasants as much as possible. Its similar to you sucking bangla lancheow as much as possible. The Chairman of Experia EVents is Tan Pheng Hock, CEO of St Engineering. Its current CEO is Leck Chet Lam, a former SAF scholar with RSAF, EDB, and then went to SIA. All part of PAP elites. Sinkies should be used to getting screwed this way by now. Get It Dumbfuck?
