Singapore Casinos

With all the restrictions, Singapore will never develop the kind of high roller market that Macau has. They might visit once or twice for novelty sake but that would be about it.

yes...so my prediction is that when these high rollers have enough of MBS, RWS after a few years, they will move on to newer and more fanciful casinos.

so the future is bleak for SG casinos...sell Genting shares

Back to your original question about SG casinos, if in the future they fail or begin to seriously falter, i guess the first course of action would be to do a revamp job & relaunch it under a new look etc. if that fails, they could redevelop the whole plot for something else. Singapore is that kind of place where every 10 years or so, it re-invent itself as the new hub of this or that. Good for business but not so good for it's people on a social level becos the landscape keeps changing.

If casino gambling becomes a norm, the PAP hopes that they will be able to make changes to the current restrictions without too much of an outcry.

If the political atmosphere is not conducive, it is likely that there will be some kind of clandestine bailout.

Before casinos, horse racing was where bankrupts were created.

yes, that's how they calculate odds and payouts.

but i believe no one can make a living from gambling

You could be right because even if you have the odds in your favour, it is actually a very small amount. You will need a substantial sum to make a significant amount of money. When you have that sort of money, are you happy with only that amount of earnings? That amount of money definitely wouldn't match your lifestyle to call that a living based solely on gambling wins.

yes...and casino games are quite instantaneous...so very addictive

When you are buying shares, you have this problem of selling or not, especially when the share is losing money and you want to cut loss. You hesitate and the share loses further. Even if the share is making money, when is the right time to realise profit? You miss it and the share starts to dip and all the gain can eventually be wiped out.

In gambling, when you are losing, you struggle to try to win it all back and you can eventually lose even more. When you are winning, you think you can win more and instead of stopping, continue to bet and eventually lose all back.

In playing shares or gambling, discipline is of paramount importance. But very few people can really master the psychology involved.

the chances of winning the 1st prize in TOTO is near zero

dafug... a year has 52 weeks, a total of 104 draws and at least 30% of the draws with its group 1 prize won on the first time round and the rest of the draws hitting over a million each. you are saying it's phoney?:biggrin::biggrin:
