You might want to consider the wider picture and agenda here.

The events during and after GE 2011 suggest that LHL might not be fully in control of his party. For example, he started off very strongly with the salary review for Ministers. The watered down version which was finally implemented does not seem to be what he had in mind. Ditto for what he wanted to do with regard to the FT policy.

So far, a lot of what he says he wants to do seems to end up being completely different when implemented.

I have a hypothesis that there is a hidden group whose agenda is to force LHL into early retirement. To do this, they have started a campaign to show that LHL is a weak leader.

LHL answered the challenge of this hidden group rather loudly by stating clearly that he has no intention of retiring early.

The play is still in progress but a key milestone would be GE 2016 where the group hopes the following will happen:

1) Fall of 1 more GRC
2) A drop in the popular vote to below 55%

If this can be achieved, there would then be a strong case for LHL to step down and make way for a new PM who can "save" the PAP.

as PM, he has all the facts , data, statistics, everything he needs to make decisions...why is he asking ordinary people to give him their ideas? such a waste of time and resources. as the PM..he must just make the decision and lead...dont be wishy washy...that's a bad leader

Good for you.

I have not been to MBS nor RWS casino too.

My reason for not going is that I know it can be addictive and gambling detroys lives. Is that good enough reason for you? or wld you like to tempt fate?

Gambling can be addictive and if it goes out of control, can indeed destroy lives.

Tempting fate? Not really, there are many other ways to do, doesn't need to involve gambling.

good analysis.

anyway, LHL is a confirmed weak PM..the sonner he laeves, the better it is for SG.

I hope the APs can field a strong team to stand against LHL at the next GE...it may be held in 2015 rather than 2016

buying 4D may not ne as addictive as casino games

It can be as addictive, but usually the impact is less because of the relative magnitudes involved and the timing of the outcomes.

For example, it will be quite easy to lose $1000 in a casino within one hour. But for 4D, unless u really buy excessively, it can usually last for some time, possibly even up to a year. You also tend to be more level headed when you have time to reflect on your losses or your spending, rather than when under the bright lights of a glitzy casino.

Actually I agree with you here. High rollers are here to enjoy themselves, the total package, not just gambling.

definitely..it's the local housewives and ah peks who go there to gamble away their life savings.

the high rollers will gamble and enjoy themselves with pretty gals.

that's why casinos kill the locals and destroy the country

such media have lost their moral compass and bearing

If one wanna be the mouthpiece of these pee-a-pee scums, one just gotta leave his/her morals behind.

Integrity and morality are not qualities needed to be in office. Being a yes-man/yes-woman is.

great insights! I fully agree with you

a good government strives, but not confined, to:

1. eradicate poverty
2. redistribute wealth
3. educate and train the citizens
4. improve the lives of the citizens
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
11.

I remember someone (may be it was John Welch, then of GE) once said, "The best way to judge a company is to look at the company toilet, the dirtiest place. If it is exemplarily clean, just imagine how well organised the rest of the company is".

So it is with the governance of a country. I say, "You can tell how well a country is being governed by looking at how well the lowest strata of its people is being treated".
