Never be flashy in the civil service. Reminds me of a friend who drove a 5 series BMW to work when the big boss was only driving a Corolla. This chap came from a rich family, very humble, but the big boss passed very negative comments about Mr BMW.

Once I encountered an incident at the check-in counter of a hotel.
This corporate executive who has a reputation for being arrogant and ostentatious, took out his platinum credit card.
His boss who was also staying at the same hotel, then took out exactly the same credit card, but a gold card!
