I recommend staying in high end international hotels and have your food there if you must.

711 though international franchised with their SOP, but you never know what the local staff will do.

I like exotic food too. But at least know how it is prepared. Our immune system and stomach not like theirs. Sometimes it may not be the level of hygiene, but our stomach may not be able to take certain spices.

If you must, try to drink beer or some alcholic beverages with the food. Helps to kill some germs, I hope. Depends on your luck, really

If you are an Indian living in India, you can survive better than a foreigner who hasn't got any form of natural defenses against such.

India has been plagued by weird germs or viruses that can kill very effectively. So, be wary of this place. Anyway, it's a slum, you will not be enjoying much anyway unless you are a National Geographic photographer wannabe.
