Risk Low runs three kilometres a day (see how slim her body is now)

For some people walking is called running:smile:
She would get more results if she increase the intensity e.g. put in more effort or mileage. She should also look at her diet.
The energy is directly correlated to distance ran, not speed. So she needs to increase her mileage per week. You increase intensity only if you want to expend more energy in same amount of time.

You can't slim down by running 3km a day..
For running, the fat burning started after 40 mins of running in your own medium pace.

I suggest one hour of running 4 times a week and 30 mins of running on easy days. Alternate the running between the 2.
Wrong. The threshold is around first 15 min. After which you start burning fat. So a regular 30 min run is quite optimal to maintain shape on a regular diet. 45 min to 1 hr run for fat loss.

How do you that the body is burning fats, and not the food and muscle:confused:

Running can help with fat loss if you do it right.

Do high intensity interval training: sprint at top speed, then rest a while, then sprint again.

I run at a stadium frequently, and I see lots of clowns taking their bloody sweet time to 'jog'. Took them about 5 minutes to complete 400m (one round). What a waste of time.

Others were walking and playing games on their handphones.

The best are those Tiong and Ah Neh FTs pushing their baby stroller round and round the stadium. At least the Tiongs wore sports shoes, those Ah Neh women wore their sari, scarf and flip-flops.

Try Intermittent Fasting

http://www.leangains.com/

Eat all your meals within an 8 hour period and fast for 16 hours or a 24hr fast once a week. It helps.

This is cause when you fast your body produces growth hormones and they aid in enzymes in converting fats to energy.

Try a ketonic diet where you eat little to no carbs and your body goes into ketosis mode which is where fat is used as fuel as your glycogen stores are used up.

Read up more on various methods and how the human body works. Don't listen to too much bro science. Used to believe that the body burns muscle tissue over fats but that's not the case unless in severe starvation mode. Fasting for 24 hrs does not change your body into starvation mode. You need at least 72 hours of fasting to do that.

Slimming down is not maintaining shape..it is losing fat to get a slim shape.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bipolar-medications-and-weight-gain/AN02062Bipolar medications and weight gain

Do all bipolar medications cause weight gain?

Answer
from Daniel K. Hall-Flavin, M.D.

Bipolar disorder can be treated with a number of medications. Some of these medications can increase your appetite or cause changes in metabolism leading to weight gain.

Whether a certain medication will cause weight gain or other side effects varies from person to person. Likewise, how well the medication works to treat bipolar disorder symptoms differs for each individual. Because of this, finding the medications that best treat your symptoms may require some trial and error. In some cases, medications that increase the risk of weight gain may be needed only temporarily to get your symptoms under control. Then, you and your doctor can find long-term (maintenance) treatment that keeps symptoms at bay and causes the least amount of side effects.

She needs to run more than 3kms.
It's not distance it's intensity
I would say she's neither doing high distance or high intensity

Gladly no idiots come to SBF for slimming advice. A lot of clueless people giving clueless advise.
Only laksaboy came close.

It is medically proven: You need to reach "anaerobic" stage for your fats to start burning. Anaerobic is the point when you feel like dying and wish you could stop running immediately, your whole body starting to feel weak - that is when your lactic acid gets produced and fats get burned. To achieve this means very very intense exercise probably bringing your heart rate to 180.

The regular "jogger pace" kind of running does not aid slimming as this is "aerobic" exercise.

It is total rubbish that "mileage" helps slimming, it is the intensity that counts.
