why ban pitbull in singapore ?

actucally pitbull is like other dog ...eager to please his master ..it was human who make them lose control ... punish the deed not punish the breed .

when i was in singapore , i wanted to get pitbull but after checking AVA website , i know they banned pitbull and some other dogs ( tosa , akita , Mastiff ..ect ) .

As of August 1991, certain breeds of dogs (Category A animals) are not permitted entry into Singapore. These breeds are:-

Pit Bull - including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bulldog;
Akita;
Neapolitan Mastiff;
Tosa;
any crosses of any of Pit Bull, Akita, Neapolitan Mastiff or Tosa



A separate group - Category B dogs - must be leashed and muzzled at all times when in public. Category B animals are:

Bull Mastiff;
Bull Terrier;
Doberman Pinscher;
German Shepherd or related Shepherd Dog breeds;
Rottweiler;
Perro de Presa Canario.

can't blame the breed or the dog. if pitbulls attack, blame the master for not training it properly or keeping a leash on them. just to be cautious, don't mix pitbulls with children even though they may be trained. the master has to be around at all times when you have children in their presence. they may be totally subservient to their master, but some will still act on instinct when smaller humans or animals are around them. they don't treat a child or stranger the same way they treat their master.

i agreed that human is to blame . but i dont agree that pitbull cant get along with children . i got friends who keep 8 years old pitbull with his kid for 8 years until now , nothing happen .

Doesn't matter my nationality. Dogs are delicious. But please don't kill your pet dogs even for food.

if the dog grows up with the child or is trained to accept the presence of the child, you should still be careful all the time. tragedy happens when friends and family visit your home with children or strangers who are not familiar to the dog. this happens all the time in california. when the owner thinks his pitbull is safe to his own kids, he is half right. the dog mauls the other kids.
