Dick is as bent as a coat hanger but I give him credit for his song writing and as an impresario.
He is certainly very wealthy partly due to the royalties from his music career.

His career really only took off after his mad chinaman album broke into to jap market.

Whatever his status and lifestyle inclinations, I find Dick to be a very talented songwriter and english lyricist.
His tunes are usually melodious and catchy, his lyrics meaningful and sometimes funny.
Fried Rice Paradise, Life Story, etc etc.
I would go as far as to say that his talents have been under-utilised and under-appreciated.
Same goes for Michelle Chong, another under-appreciated singaporean talent.

But you all know lah, the really talented people in SG don't really thrive, you have to be able to talk shit about toothpicks to get ahead in this society with unusual mentality.

Don't recall the 'Wah Lau' gang, but there were a few local groups like the Oddfellows and Fish On Friday which produced quite good music.
