Well, I never spoke about this in the forum because those are my reasons and not shared by anyone else, but since you asked.

I was away for over ten years then I took a vacation group tour to China in 2003 and was quite amazed by their economic progress. I wanted to get involved in this "economic miracle" and on a trip back to visit Singapore, I bumped into my previous boss who offered me a regional post. I do not have anything engaged with China except for attending regional distributor's meetings, seminars, and attending some trade shows. Most of my direct dealing are with ASEAN countries which is good enough for me, I wouldn't be able to survive in China. But periodical visits suit me fine. However there is much activity in ASEAN and they keep me busy enough. Cheaper to hire me? I suppose so, apart from my E-pass, I am being paid local terms, not an expat's package, my child goes to local school, and I still have to pay foreigner's fees. Anyways, my E pass will expire in one and a half years time and I have seen enough of the East. Am making my plans for returning to Canada.
