Actually...it quite difficult to draw a clear line nowadays...assemble in Japan with parts made in China...when the product fail...nobody will bother whether its the china made component giving problem...or a faulty process in the production line...most simply jump and say...no more Nikon...tons of such tread in Dpreview...

Seems like the Chinese plant makes the lower end products
