They knew it was really bad for the foot so they allow us to wear our own sneakers.

After the canvas crap, they introduced the black BATA ones. Run a few times and it became wide opened like an alligator jaw! Got to stick it back with superglue or send for kit exchange, which takes place only once in 3 months!

I was from the black canvas shoe batch. Once out of BMT the norm was running in slacks & boots. We had to toughen up for those 10km/rifle/helmet runs.

I'm glad that the SAF provides better shoes & reduced the distance of the runs. There's no worse fate than to die for the FamiLee :(

I've been through Adidas, Nike and Reebok. For me Reebok is the best. The sole contour fit and absorbency somehow suit my bodyweight and foot so comfortably almost like custom designed made-to-measure. I guess it's different brands for different people.
