Wheelchair-bound man, 70, found dead in Kallang flat after neighbour noticed smell

https://mothership.sg/2025/05/wheelchair-bound-man-found-dead-north-bridge-road/

A 70-year-old man was found dead in a flat in North Bridge Road on Apr. 30 after a neighbour noticed a smell and called the police.

According to neighbours who spoke to Shin Min Daily News, the man was wheelchair-bound and had been living alone in the flat since he moved in 10 years ago.

A Shin Min reporter who went to the block saw several police officers entering and leaving the unit.

A neighbour who lived on the same floor said the elderly man had just greeted him last weekend, but had not seen him the past few days.

Another resident, surnamed Chen, said the man had lived alone for many years and the last time he saw him was about a week ago.

He said the man usually had to rely on a wheelchair to get around.

"I heard that the neighbour who lived opposite him couldn't stand the smell and called the police," Chen said.

A coroner was observed going to the flat to carry the body at around 11pm, Shin Min reported.
