Actually not just HDB is a rental. Leasehold encompasses condo, landed as long as it is a leasehold. A lease means it's RENTAL. Just that HDB have alot more red tapes in relative to the leasehold Condo and leasehold landed. It a huge difference between a leasehold and freehold. Huge huge difference. I experienced the true meaning of freehold during my extended time overseas not SG type of brainwash you that you "own" a property that is on a leasehold lol....

The big difference is the absence of a strata title deed in the case of a condo unit v HDB unit as proof of ownership.
The bigger difference is that you can never get a re-mortgage on equity should you need one from a bank without one.
Your HDB may be worth $1m now compared to you buying at $200,000 but the $800,000 “profit” is fucked until you sell it.
