I've travelled to other countries and I've noticed something. For years, we pride ourselves for good standards etc but for the past few years, with the advent of Gen Y into the workforce, standards have dropped noticeably. For instance, I went to a major Shopping Centre in Singapore and asked the sales staff where a place was located. She said she did not know. She was a 20-something girl. I left the place, went down ONE flight of escalators, turned left and there was the place, not 50 METRES from that shop.

Other times, I would ask young 20-something sales staff about where to find an item in their shop or supermarket, and invariably the answer would be "I do not know".

It's an alarming drop in standards. I went overseas and i asked the same question. Do you know what the foreign staff did? She did not know, so she went out of her way to find out for me where the item was and then personally ensured that I received the item. Another time i purchased things from a shop, she personally took the item, gift wrapped it and helped me ensure there was no inconvenience.

The only staff I know which had some kind of standard was in Genting SP's resort in Sentosa, which impressed me last year when I went there and had some problems.

If anybody else makes this into a "blame PAP" matter, I shake my head at them.

This is a note to wake people to the appalling drop in service quality in Singapore for the past few years. Read the post below on what a foreigner had to say about SIA last year.

This is just one opinion. But it says a lot liaoz.

I was a passenger on board the above flight seated at Row 73 C. Occupying the First Row in the 4 mid-row seats (Row 71 or Row 72, I am not sure of the exact Row number) was an expat family with 2 young children.

During the entire flight, I noticed that the children to be quite active and restless. However, the worst was to come as the flight was starting its descent whereupon the children started screaming their heads off and the parents did not appear to be in control of the situation. The children became extremely distressed and frantic and needless to say, the noise from their tantrum was unbearable to the rest of the passengers seated in the Upper Deck.

Not once, did any of the Inflight Crew come forward to try and remedy, let alone abate, the situation.

This is most unacceptable. Such apathetic attitudes would correspondingly raise concerns as to whether or not the Crew would be competent if a serious safety or security issue should arise during a flight. There were two senior stewardesses (in the green uniform) covering the Upper Deck and a host of other Inflight Crew members. I would have expected that leading stewardesses should have well acquired the necessary skills to handle such a situation, which to my knowledge and experiences of flying, is the most basic common problem that is likely to occur on any given flight.

It was blindingly evident that the children were unable to cope with the change in air pressure during descent. All that was required was to issue each child with a lollipop or something similar on which they could *censored* so as to dispel the build-up of pressure in thePÐOÊPOST /editpost.php?do=updatepost

What could the flight attendants do? This stupid person first time fly aeroplane is it? Or first time fly with kids on board? It always happens when landing unless they kids are old enough to be thought to hold their nose and blow.

children : screaming their heads off
leading stewardess : OOii, you fucking brats, go and play outside!:mad:

Nothing new. The stewardesses are too afraid to offend the ang mo parents. Or they have learnt through experience the best thing to do is to leave the bastard kids alone. I've seen SQ stewardess tried to calm a screaming ang mo kid, and ended up making the kid hysterical.

Mind you, some ang mo kids are taught to despise asians from babyhood. The right thing to do is to administer GA on the kid and put it to sleep.

Another method is to slap the parents and watch the kids stop screaming and stare with their mouths open.
But that's not recommended unless you have "connections".
