paiseh, i tot u said u stay in katong? why need to share a latrine/outhouse with 50 other families? even u stay in a two storey shophouse whose house owner rent out to many families, it also impossible to have 50 families in the same premise.
even stay kampong also not one whole kampong share an outhouse. i from the kampong myself and i experienced shitting halfway into a bucket to have the bucket being replaced with another bucket by the MoEnv ppl.
i admit not every families living in kampong have a outhouse that MoEnv collect from but it the simple reason that a better way to get rid human waste.

I grew up in Telok Kurau Road area.... Lorong L. No fancy condos or townhouses in those days. 50% of the dwellings were squatter huts each one sublet 3 times over.

50 is my estimate. There were about 20 to 30 attap homes that looked very much like these :
Each one housed 2 to 3 families.

For the past 40 years or so, it's very obvious that no opposition can make it. Why is Tanjong Pagar not contested in every GE?
The future i don't know, but with the current group of opposition that we have, sorry all i can say is CANNOT MAKE IT. As I've been stressing all this while, the opposition are fighting amongst themselves to be the snake head, with this reason is more than enough to understand that WP, SDP so on cannot make it. Unless a newly formed party by experienced ex-ministers maybe will be able to turn the situation around.

the duties of a politician is to serve the people. we shouldn't idolize politicians. politicians are employees of the people. we should be the politicians' masters, not the other way round. there is a saying: be heartless toward the politicians and you are being good to yourself.
LKY, his associates and families enjoyed riches, respects and high positions in Singapore's society for decades. so the country really owns LKY nothing. instead LKY should go down on knees and thank Singapore and its people everyday for what he and his family possess and enjoy today.

LKY did not serve. He took the lead and created a miracle. His methods were harsh but he got the job done and he delivered on his promises to a whole generation.
Without him, Singapore would not be what it is today. It would have advanced somewhat in terms of infrastructure but in a far more haphazard and disorganised way. It would also still be almost entirely dependent on Malaysia for its water supply.
