What is one thing you wish to tell younger colleagues?

General

I wish to tell my younger colleagues that after close to 2 decades of working, that nobody has got their backs, definitely not the company and (i kid them not) definitely not HR.

If you are lucky, you've got great bosses who support and nurture you, but in Singapore's climate, those are rare and lucky diamonds, stay close to those bosses. But majority of the time, Singaporean bosses just use you, abuse you, step on you to move up the career ladder, and lose you. This is Singapore, stop dreaming and wake up. Seeing how there are so many older people not retiring or demoting to give younger leaders a chance, my recommendation to the next generation is to take a chill pill, just lay flat.

What are other things you'd tell younger colleagues?
