Jack Sim has a track record that the MPs do not. He has worked with CGI (Clinton Global Initiative) and been named by Time Magazine as Heroes of the Environment. imo, this does not mean he is great in any respect, but simply that he has contributed not only to Singapore, but to other poorer countries as well. Compare that with excuses for 50 year floodings and broken windows for MSK to escape.
Some updates from Tharman's page.
"Point 2: The blame game from both sides is quite futile. We need a heart to heart honest talk. But if the PAP has a culture of zero mistakes, all they'll get is MPs and bureaucrats pretending there is zero mistakes. Of course, this becomes a dishonest situation and you get strange behavior. Eg: MP Penny Low disrespected the National Day Anthem by doing sms while the PM and others are standing at attention. Instead of admitting that she shouldn't have done such a thing, she gave very stupid reasons that she was so emotional that she wanted to share the moment with her FB friends. I mean who will believe such a lame excuse? Immediately, she lost all her credibility or whatever is left of it. So honesty is something we all value and if we can all speak our minds out frankly for the sake of nation building, our country will become much more mature and honest."
"In the 1960s, we needed a paternal govt. But now we can see and understand everything. We're educated and informed. But they still treat us the same way as before. We trust the govt but they don't trust us. It's not nice to be forsaken"
"We should certainly also stop the use of terms like: " Ugly Singaporeans, One Eye Dragon, etc" We should speak of a proud country of nation builders who love, trust, accept each other with a strong sense of community, with govt who are not condescending anymore, where power distribution are horizntal and not hierarchical, why transparency and maturity prevails. There'll always be different people. Accept the whole as part and parcel of one. But love your country as the sense of belonging is a natural need. Don't stay on the Rat-Race Model like the F1."
