Terence Cao willing to undergo DNA paternity test
The local actor denied baby-daddy allegations that he fathered a 19-month-old child with a Shanghainese lady after a one night stand in 2010
Last Friday, MediaCorp actor Terence Cao was speculated to be the father of a 19-month-old child, whom he conceived with a 26-year-old Shanghai lady (known as Ms Shi), after a one-night stand in Shanghai in May 2010.
According to a local media report, the actor denied fathering the child and said “there is no such thing” on Friday, when asked if he fathered Ms Shi’s child. He appeared surprised and explained he had no knowledge of it as he “did not read the news”.
In the latest turn of events, it seems like Terence’s stance towards the matter has changed. The 45-year-old actor was spotted making a trip to the lawyer’s office with Ms Shi and her daughter yesterday to arrange for a DNA test. He was also seen feeding Ms Shi’s child at a café yesterday after they went to the lawyer’s firm
According to Ms Shi, Terence has agreed to be held answerable for his actions should the DNA test prove that he fathered her child. It is understood that the child’s DNA samples was collected at the hotel yesterday.
xinmsn was unable to reach Terence for comment this morning. The actor is due to make a public appearance at Causeway Point as a judge for a singing competition for a Ch8 roadshow.
A rep from MediaCorp released an official statement on Friday: “As this is a private matter, MediaCorp will not be commenting for this story.”
Ms Shi took the news to a local Chinese daily on Friday after attempts to meet up with Terence turned futile. In the interview, she expressed her hopes to give her child a stable living environment and denied going public - with the baby-daddy news - for money’s sake.
Terence and Ms Shi reportedly had a one night stand after they met at a party two years ago in Shanghai. Ms Shi made a trip to Singapore one month later at Terence’s invitation and stayed at his house during her visit. She discovered her pregnancy one month later, after returning to Shanghai from her two-week long stay.
