tkl probably lost the PE because:

1. too self-glorifying

he keeps harping he spoke up for minibomb investors. so what? did that help them to recover their money lost? practical results is what we want not talks. everyone knows how to talk and boast but how many can get result?

2. self-denial

if he fails, it's everyone else's faults but his. his NTUC denial was already a wet blanket and spoiler.

3. emptying bragging

bragged that he would donate at least half the presidential pay for charity. what charity? charity is very vague. generous charity to his ball-carriers is also "charity". so which charity? everyone knows how to boast about that but would they do it when they really have those money? does tkl donate before generously? to which charity?

4. kiam kana

thinking the PE is a form of business investment with the least capital. now it proves him very wrong. his investment lost miserably. $48K deposit is KAPUT!

5. blaming tan jee say for running PE dampened his mood.

TKL was good and doing good in the minibond incident. My MIL went HL to listen to him and appreciated his help. She voted for him as a token of thanks. I have no objection to that even though me and my wife both voted TT, as long as she didn't vote for TJS, that's fine with us. She had $10k in a Lehman Bros. bond and got back $6k, which otherwise could have been nothing. But his political acumen and campaign was nothing short of disaster. If Ramseth advised him all that, Ramseth ought to be shot.

voice with no practical action is like thunder without rain. what's the use? only self-glorification. what do the people get? nothing! everywhere we also hear VOICE OF THE PEOPLE but in the end they voted pap back into power.

the minibond issue could be a pre-plan to last nite PE. why didn't he test water in the recent GE which by the way was very much cheaper in security deposit.

tkl gives the impression he wants to be the overall chiefy, the president so that he could get even with those who discredit him or didn't appraise him during his stint in NTUC.

how did he help practically to get your mum's money partially back? my li'l brother leetahsar's mum went to the bank, banged tables and threaten complaint to MAS. it worked! she got every single cents back.

many conmen do that and that's how fools got misled and conned. tkl's sincerity is weirdfully amissing. can anyone sense it? over my side, he's known as a smiling tiger and a very proud and ignorant one.
