‎"Mr Tan Kin Lian, the former chairman* of NTUC Income, has announced on a blog post today that he will be contesting the upcoming presidential election, which must be held by August this year." - TODAY

"Mr Tan Kin Lian, a former chief executive officer of NTUC Income, left the PAP in 2007." - ST

....TKL was removed/sacked from/left NTU...C Income coincidentally in 2007, and took up the minibond cause the following year.

Also, I wonder why TKL does not mention that he was a PAP member in his CV [1]. Perhaps he is not too proud of this association (and does not wish to be too TRANSPARENT about it).

I wonder also how long he had been a PAP party member and whether he held any position within the party, especially since he was Chairman of CCMC and CCC for a few years.

Coincidentally, 2007 was the year after GE 2006. (.....hmmmm, I wonder why I mention GE...haha.)

Anyway, my best wishes to TKL on his EP candidacy.

footnote*: TKL was NOT Chairman of NTUC Income, but rather, the CEO.

in a news interview just seen, tkl promises to "pledge half of his multi-million $ to a children charity foundation..."

funny, does he need another 100K signatures in order to do that? even not as a presidential wannabe, he could do that too. why does he need to broadcast and boast about his endeavour even before anything has materialised? is this a PR stunt and exploitation cos he was on tv and attention whoring is the game of the day.

how true is this allegation?

tkl in NTUC tekan all ntus insurance agents and tried to by-pass their commission by encouraging policyholders to buy direct fr NTUC instead. it caused massive resignation and unhappiness. in the end, tkl also had to go.

fact, rumour or plain fiction?

tan kin lian was PAP cadre member for about 30yrs.

fact, myth or fiction:

he was incompetent and wasn't taken seriously during his time with pap.

well?

if he become elected as the next president, would he create problems for PAP? if that's his agenda, i shall definitely vote for him!!

He is not fit to be President.

He was fired as CEO of NTUC INCOME. Of course the PAP and government way of giving face was to ask him to resign, which he did.

He was not of PAP MP material many decades ago. Now he has a chip on his shoulders against PAP.

He used NTUC INCOME to heed the government's call to do 'national service'and sponsored the Ass-League for many years, keeping a sub-standard soccer league alive.

Being an insurance CEO is not enough for him. He wants to expand his ambition. He started a car co-op scheme that eventually closed.

He also started a travel agency business using NTUC INCOME's funds.

He "resigned" his financial controller by announcing to the staff that she has resigned. She did not. He did this when she was away on leave. What a coward.
