台北市長柯文哲訪美，在美國時間20日下午飛抵台北市的姊妹市亞特蘭大，並出席2市締結姊妹市40週年慶祝酒會，被媒體問及高雄市長韓國瑜稱「台獨比梅毒可怕」，柯聽聞後先是大笑，之後只願從醫生角度回應，「淋病比梅毒要難處理」，媒體追問「所以台獨比較好處理？」柯並未正面回應，只重申「梅毒比較好處理」。
柯文哲訪美，多場座談、演講都觸及敏感的兩岸關係議題，不過被問及對於韓國瑜稱「台獨比梅毒可怕」的看法，柯P大笑後反問，「你要聽醫生的回答嗎？」接著說，梅毒這細菌對盤尼西林一直沒有出現抗藥性，所以以醫生的立場來說，「淋病比梅毒要難處理」，因梅毒沒有抗藥性，所以盤尼西林一針打下去就好了。
他表示，醫學角度上，淋病比梅毒困難，但診斷上，梅毒比較難診斷，還反問媒體，「我們要在美國上細菌學嗎？」
柯文哲率北市府團隊飛抵姊妹市亞特蘭大，也受到高規格待遇，當地警方專程派出2台重型機車替柯P開道。傍晚參加2市締結姊妹市40週年酒會，包括層級僅次於州長、副州長的喬治亞州的州務卿Brad Raffensperger，以及亞特蘭大市議長Felicia Moore都親自出席致詞。
特別的是，40年前與北市府簽署姊妹市的亞特蘭大市長是Maynard Jackson，今天他的夫人Valeria Jackson也親自到場，柯文哲則送上水晶製作的「super bowl」當做禮物。
涉外人士則透露，這場酒會包括餐點等，駐亞特蘭大辦事處幾乎沒出到什麼錢，而是熱心台僑聽到要辦姊妹市40週年酒會，而主動贊助。
