此话遭到网友批“失言”，并指若柯文哲要选总统将是致命伤，认为柯文哲整个行程表现出来是对国防和外交的无知，尤其台湾正在纪念发生在台湾72年前独裁者蒋介石的228大屠杀，更惹争议。
台北市府虽紧急在官网的新闻稿删去柯文哲的争议话语，但已引起轩然大波。但柯文哲28日出席活动则不认为自己失言。
柯文哲说，从1933年希特勒上台，到1945年整整12年的时间，特别是到最后两三年几乎是灭绝式的处置，所以他后来发现以色列到最后把这件事情变成很重要的国际宣传，这也是为什么全世界的以色列人会这么团结合作。
柯文哲还说，自己亲自到大屠杀博物馆去看，好像懂得其中的道理。
