1月2号，台湾空军一架UH-60M直升机在宜兰桶后溪山区失事，刚刚参加完所谓元旦升旗的台“参谋总长”沈一鸣身亡，一同身亡的还有包括两名少将在内的一批台军高级军官，仅有坐在后排的5人幸免。这架直升机当时正准备赶往宜兰东澳岭雷达站慰问官兵，顺便发点俗称“加菜金”的压岁钱，让大家过年吃点好的。然而在起飞37分钟后就从台军地面战管雷达的屏幕上消失。

在坠机事件发生后，有关这名倒霉的“参谋总长”的下落就一直没个准确说法，有说他无大碍已经送医的，也有说下落不明的，再到下午台“国防部”终于确认沈的死讯，也使他成为“国军”历史上，死于任上的最高级将领。这也是1974年台陆军两架UH-1H直升机在昌平演习中双双坠毁，导致“陆军司令”于豪章上将重伤截瘫；1990年台空军比奇1900运输机执行防空疏散工程视察任务时失事以来，台军第三次发生高级将领专机坠毁事故。也是台军黑鹰直升机成军以来发生的第三次重大坠毁事故。
目前坠毁的933号黑鹰直升机的黑匣子已被找到，基本已经排除机械故障导致坠毁的可能。造成事故的原因基本上可以认定为飞行高度过低撞山坠毁。这也算圆了事故发生时台军方的“迫降”一说，尽管933号黑鹰摔的面目全非，树枝甚至刺穿了机身，旋翼和尾桨也全部折断，怎么看也不像是一般意义上的“迫降”。说这场事故是一场因为飞行员来不及拉起进而撞山的“迫降”也不为过。
