The journey of NOT seeing Olympic flame: A kindergarten class' disappointment
This morning, the pupils of Far East Kindergarten lined up eagerly along Dunearn Road to see the Youth Olympic Flame and cheer on the torchbearer. Their excited smiles were wiped off from their faces when all they got to see was a lantern hidden inside a YOG bus.
STOMPer Tabby had to pacify one of her pupils as he shed tears of disappointment.
Tabby sent in an email to STOMP, on behalf of her class pupils.
"We are the K2 pupils from Far Eastern Kindergarten.
"This morning we were waiting for the YOG torch to come by along Dunearn Road (near Newton Circus, outside the Breast Cancer Foundation).
"We were there at 9am, thinking that it would end at 10am. But at 9.15am, the YOG buses went by.
"However, the YOG Flame was hidden inside a lantern. We did not see any torch or torchbearers.
"We are furious and disappointed because we did not get to see the real torch.
"You see, we have been learning all about the Olympics since July. We even organised our own 'Little Olympics Day' last Saturday.
"We decorated our Olympic board with newspaper articles, pictures and Olympic rings.
"We even made our own Olympic torch but we did not get to see the real YOG torch.
"All of us are really disappointed. We only got to see a lantern in the YOG bus.
"One of our classmates cried because he was so sad. We did not want to go back to school because we couldn't believe that it was over.
"We would really like to see the Olympic torch and more. Can you help us please?
"It is so unfair that other people got to see the torch relay but we didn't get to."
