Grab this early bird offer fast. Singtel and Starhub are offering the World Cup matches for the knock-down price of $1.10 per match, that is cheaper that the price of a can of soft drink:eek:

SingTel, StarHub Win Broadcast Rights For FIFA World Cup
SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (Z74.SG) and StarHub Ltd. (CC3.SG) said Friday that they have won broadcast rights to telecast the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Both SingTel and Star Hub will telecast all 64 matches live, both companies said in separate statements.
SingTel and StarHub said that customers who purchase the 2010 FIFA World Cup package in May will enjoy the early-bird subscription of S$70.62 including the goods and service tax.
After May, the price is S$94.16 with GST, both companies said.
Both companies didn't mention how much they have paid for the broadcast rights.
The FIFA World Cup, to be held in South Africa, is the most widely viewed sporting event in the world, with a cumulative global audience of over 715 million people watching the final match of the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germa

I understand that something like this is available at some shops in Sim Lim Tower, among some other places of course. Note, Sim Lim Tower, not Sim Lim Square. Should be around S$200 price range. No further subscription charge for hundreds of channels you recieve with it. It functions well in any normal room as long as you place it near an open window. It doesn't work well in enclosed aircon rooms unless you install the dish outside the window. However, that may attract police attention and as Clinton666 has warned, it's illegal for private residential use. The apparatus itself isn't illegal, but enduser has to apply for licence, usually will be approved to corporate endusers only.

Where is the map from wiki?

Which Country missing from the list here? Can anyone guess?

Shit! Most countries seem to get broadcasting rights without any the hassle or pain, plus many is Free-to-air!
*AND* They don't even have to pay some stupid TV licence tax per year!

The whole bidding war looks like a wayang to up cable subscription rates. I think that even FIFA also amused. Where got a country want to squeeze their own people so badly. The end result expected long ago. Both SingTel and StarHub can telecast but subscribers pay double or more than previously, regardless which one you choose.

What abetment? I did caution that it's illegal to install satellite dish at home. Go buy something legal and cheaper. Mustafa and Sheng Siong selling antennae boosters for around S$20. Perfectly legal to sell, buy and install.
