Actually I don' t mind the gun carriage. I am more concerned with those that paint an erroneous picture of the benevolent tyrant and his family. These are the times when I am sure we all wish that we had a free press and thus an honest portrayal.

Some of the comments and ass licking was over the top. I would take as an example that of KBW and his " heaven would be a place on earth................" or " Mother of the nation "

The correct tone etc was set by those who knew her well and best. Graceful, full of annecdotes, I count amongst them Nathan, GCT, LHL LY MM and her Grandson.

On balance whether she deserved a half state funeral, or some degree of additional respect over a full state funeral with all its trappings is something people will disagree about. On balance that additional bit of respect and dignity she fully deserves.

Some have postulated that She was Lady Macbeth behind the throne. What has emerged is the figure of a private intelligent women whom LKY listened and talked his problems through with. Influence she had, but at the end of the day as even LKY acknowledged he did not listen to her at times. I dare say she would be a hard women to find in this day and age, of equal intellect, but always walking two steps behind.

My own view of her role in the seperation is that well if she wrote drafted the water part and wrote the language into the agreement and into the constitution of Malaysia, she deserves that Gun Carriage.
