Always a pleasure to be at the Botanic Gardens at this time of year. I was there last week - the cooler weather and Christmas lights added a warm, festive glow to the evening.

Visited Not Mere Spectators by Founders' Memorial Singapore at the National Gallery Singapore yesterday.
The exhibition traces Singapore’s journey in forging a multicultural society. Its title is drawn from a 1959 speech by Lee Kuan Yew, reminding us that we are“not mere spectators” but “active participants” in building a nation for all.
The harmonious society we have today is not just the product of policy, but of the everyday choices of Singaporeans — to respect one another, to stand together, and to keep strengthening our social compact. We must have the conviction to keep making these choices, and to carry them forward into the future.
This exhibition also offers a preview of what’s to come when the Founders’ Memorial opens in 2028. Behind the scenes, the curatorial team is already hard at work, thinking carefully about how the stories and values will be told.
The exhibition is free and runs till 29 March. Do take some time to visit!

Glad to welcome Republic of Korea (ROK) National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik and his parliamentary colleagues today.
ROK President Lee Jae Myung and I recently agreed to elevate our ties to a Strategic Partnership in November last year. Singapore and the ROK share many common interests and challenges, making us natural partners. I am heartened to learn that our close relationship enjoys strong bipartisan support in the ROK National Assembly.
I wish Speaker Woo and his colleagues a fruitful visit to Singapore!
