Auxiliary cop's gun goes off inside a toilet at MRT station

AsiaOne
Mon, Mar 21, 2011

An auxiliary policeman fired his gun by accident inside a toilet at Bukit Gombak MRT station around 7pm yesterday. No casualties were reported.

The 29-year-old CISCO officer had accidentally touched his gun while zipping his pants in the toilet, which pulled the trigger and fired the gun. Fortunately, the stray bullet did not injure him or any others in the toilet at that time.

The officer, who had joined CISCO one year ago, had undergone training on gun handling.

The police spent over four hours searching for the bullet that he fired by accident, only ending the search at 11.30pm. Investigations on the accidental misfire are ongoing. The CISCO officer has been temporarily suspended from duty in order to assist police with investigations.

He was on duty when the incident happened, escorting personnel who were retrieving money collected in the station's General Ticketing Machines (GTMs).

would not have happened if he left the top chamber empty on his revolver. cowboys learned that lesson over a hundred years out in the wild wild west.

There is a problem: He goes to jail if he then lost this extra round somehow. In the gun cylinder less chance to be lost.:p

Nowadays AETOS and Certis Cisco are competing for staff, offering sign-on bonuses and such, should have many new birds around.

I only pity his buddy, balls drop upon hearing that gunshot from the toilet.

Can any bros here help me understand how it took place? I read and re-read and yet cannot visualise what really happened. Bloody joke! You need to use some strength to fire. Not touched gun....................... fired the gun.

No need to try to understand ; the news report is literally a scripted statement to the press from CISCO or the police for PR purpose.

For a Taurus revolver to go off, you really need a lot of effort to pull it. Unless if the hammer is in a cocked position which is a completely different story. If the gun is holstered with the hammer forward its impossible to discharge a round just by zipping his pants. Someone is lying badly to cover up the case.

At least this round the bloody bugger did not shoot himself or someone else like the rest did in the past 20 years.

Not easy to miss fire. Pull the pant zip and pull the gun trigger?

I tried very hard not to laugh when i heard the news...

he PCC and fired the wrong gun? LOL...

ST thinks we goodu...u need to pull the trigger quite hard before u can fire..unless u cock the weapon before hand...

KNN me thinks he use his revolver to PCC and fire off or he is trying to shoot cockroach inside the toilet?

SPF SOP - during duty hours, must keep the revolver fully loaded, all chambers. Anyway, that guy's CISCO.

I think this could have happen; during his business inside the toilet, he happily play with his revolver; forgeting that it is fully loaded he play with the hammer and cock it. In his desperate attempt to decock the revolver; he kalang ka boh sets it off and misfire instead.

So in the desperate attempt to fool the public he or his company comes up with a cock and bull story to hoodwink our gulliable Singaporeans . Presumably all would laugh it off and forget about the matter in time.

If we were to believe every public statement the press offer; we would be the greatest fools on earth.

Uneducated Sinkies shouldn't be trusted with a gun. Aux Cops are the greatest joke in the world and show how desperate they want to cut costs.

For their own safety as well as public safety, these so called aux police who are infact glorified security guards should not be allowed to carry guns.
There are quite a few cases of these guns being used for suicide, being misfired etc. Also there were cases of when being called to action, ie to fired against bank robbers, they missed at point blank range further endangering the public.

Reminds me of Drifter who said he always played with his revolver.

something is really fishy abt this case...esp it is not easy to fire the revolver...and the best part, they cannot find the stray bullet casing - flushed down the toilet?

and zipping pants can fire off trigger - unless his cock is inside the trigger housing...

you may be correct that he was most likely playing with his revolver. a modern single action revolver can be easily fired with a light squeeze of the trigger, but in a holster it is harder to do it as most holsters have straps to prevent the hammer from being cocked as the trigger is being squeezed. a double action revolver requires the firer to cock the hammer first before pulling the trigger. he probably took the revolver out of holster and played with it. and it is stupid to have all chambers loaded... it's an accident waiting to happen.

Yes, the holster strap is the cocking hammer guard. It's not possible for a revolver to misfire while being holstered. In PA, we were trained for single-trigger firing without cocking the hammer first. The trigger would cock the hammer itself first before firing. It's very stiff to do that without cocking first, but we got used to it after a few range sessions.

Not familiar with the revolvers. Can anyone here comment on the safety features of a standard local police revolver? Me only trained in assault rifles not revolver
