As the saying goes - he who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client. This guy is not only digging his hole but also providing his own rope. The cheque argument, trying to give the false impression that he was not being paid while under suspension, the ink history test, etc.

The girl is naturally is stoically claiming that it was not bribes to avoid the authorities taking away her degree.

Sadly it reflects badly on NUS as it involves a number of students. It is also unfair on other students who play by the rules.

He is indeed a fool if he thought he could hoodwink the court into believing that he was suspended without pay. Let's see what the truth is on this.

The girl's testimony puts the CPIB in bad light.

Professors/lecturers having affairs with students are so common nowadays nobody blinks an eyelid anymore. Priests or holymen having affairs or sexual abuse are not common but with the scandals in the West, it will not be a surprise if more cases happen here. Managers or civil serpents getting bribes or sexual favours....common its been happening since day 1. Why do you think the sex and entertainment industry is flourishing. I find it very amusing that the courts are going after people for things that are now commonplace.

Bro, nothing to do with age old practice of lecturers screwing their students.

I was told that his guy had been doing this to other students, and has been receiving all kind of gifts from students. He in turn has not given anything in return. Imagine telling a blatant lie to the court about his suspension.

This is not your usual sex case.

Not just ordinary students struggling to get a better grade. But apparently bright and brilliant ones who are supposed to be the top of their class and are currently holding onto important judicial positions inthe High court and subordinate courts!! imagine caling them Your Honour?

This is another manifestation of the evil and immorality that has permeated into the scholar ranks of the civil service!! All that goood education has failed to breed any good sense or sense of fairplay and justice and yet these very corrupted people who are implicated in this sickening lurid trial are supposed to be meting out "justice"...... what a farce!!

There is nothing farcical about the whole saga. This is human nature which is prevalent since the time of our " civilization". Human behaviour has never changed - greed, self-gratification, self-aggrandizement and abuse of one's influence and power. This is not something drastically new and shocking. It's another episode of errant human nature at work. We cannot blame the players. They are the victims of their own genes shaped by the environment they are in.Period.

agree with you on this..... human nature and all its shortcomings can never be surmounted and marshalled despite all that apparent education and learning.... reason and the will and desire for good is a litle lost in these young people

i don't understand why so much publicity and space is given to such a natural affair - and it is filled with sordid and lurid details of the intimacy. it's really unnecessary. it has totally dumbed the people and has divertd the attention from the BE and other more pressing issues. i feel sorry for the readers and for the people....one after another of nothing but explicit and sordid SEXUAL EXPLOITS...

Calculated to shame and blame...proverbial slaughtering the pig to teach the monkeys....except hat the pig was not quite doing anything that is quite so heinous and the trial is calling into the open all the trickery and sheer incompetence and malice of the process servers....

too much of sex is boring. too much sordid and lurid details are tiresome. it's over-kill and it's driving more people into the asylum and away from sex and reproduction.

His case is quite weak to begin with, and it may be because his lawyer wants him to PG, but he refused, thus the need to defend himself in court. Gifts that are over the top and unusually expensive, no gift exchange, sex with other students etc. this does not look like any love but purely in exchange for something.

He must be fairly desperate to try to lie to court about no money to pay for forensic tests, hoping that no one will know that he gets paid while on suspension. Which judge will believe that a commercial lawyer doesn't even have at least $50k credit limit on any credit line? His salary is $15k for crying out loud.
