My wife saw the news about the whole reset to increase TFR and her first response is "叫政府来养lor,每个人一定生的" (Ask the government to take care of the children, everyone sure give birth!)

Agree boh?

Add on my thoughts:

SG couples mainly can separate into 3 groups.

• First group have lots of babies. (Good for them until they hit financial hardship)
• Second group want babies but cannot have babies (Still can IVF, etc.)
• Third group can have babies but don't want babies.

I belong to the third group. Why? Because we're stuck in the situation where, yes we have income, but to have income, we need to work. To work, means our children have to push to someone to take care (childcare, maid, grandparents). If not, is we find a job that we can have time to take care (i.e. ownself be boss, flexi remote work for certain industry, work at flexi lower income jobs to fetch and spend time with the kids). We grow up seeing one absentee boomer parent while the other boomer parent always nag at us and we vow not to repeat their mistakes. So that's why we rather not bring children into this world to suffer.
