The internet landscape is now unrecognizable and extremely alien to me.
When my friends and I got our first accounts way back in 1995 with pacnet the first thing we learned was that on the internet you create an on line persona and you guard it religiously from being linked to your real life identity. The two were kept well apart and for good reason.
NOBODY uploaded images of themselves. It was the last thing on anyone's mind. Very few used their real names or anything close to their real names. Privacy was the order of the day.
But look at the internet now. It really is a window into everyone's life and far too often it becomes an open door to their bedrooms and toilets. It's crazy. Why do people want to do that? I am truly dumbfounded.
