I wonder, is there an INTERNET law? Even China regime dare not really touch those who blog bad about politicans. In fact, they manage to boot out a few who are bad with internet.

BTW, PAP are powerless overseas. So wat if they watch every thing on the internet? There are always new bloggers and more bad comments on PAP when the economy worsen.

If PAP wakes up their idea, they should do more things that are pro citizens, and reduce burden on the citizens. So far, the measures are superfical and citizens will grumble more when harsh times REALLY comes.

Singapore is begining to fell the pinch.

I told my friend that back in October. He didn't really understand because he's an IT specialist- no, he's not Indian btw- and not an economist, but I told him it will get really bad for the next 6-8 months at least.

I think, to add, when you start learning economics as a subject, and as your major, especially overseas, one realises how important is it to separate the real facts from the bad BS. Its especially useful for Singaporeans.

I am not an economist, never took econ 101 either.

Yes, things will get really ugly, even if Obama got his way to push thru the 700 BILLION bill. That will only slow down the shit, and maybe only help out abit.

The usual understanding is that when USA starts to recover, singapore will be at its worst.

Most singaporeans are just waking up to reality that times are bad. They still have not understand that the worst is yet to come.

The retrenchments of MNCs in singapore will have a bigger ripple effect than most can imagine. Just that most people dont see it. They think I am not retrenched, so I am ok, that is really bad thinking.

Hope may come from some projects that the govenment is trying to push thru, but from what I gathered from previous recessions, the govenment if FOLLOW their stupid policies in payment for PUBLIC CONSTRUCTIONS, more will die also. I will not go into details. But remember there is a case of Public Work in East Coast? Where the contractor change 3 times? And work cannot be completed?

I look at the PAP's way of management and I worry. I look at Australia's and although the crime rate is higher over there, overall the state and federal government gives me confidence- because of the accountability and transparency in the regulatory system.

We don't have that in Singapore. No trust means no confidence.

It does not matter, crime or accountability. Anywhere can make $$$ will do.

Politics is very closely related to economy. If the economy is good, does not matter what the govenment do; go to war( bush, howard, Blair), or do stupid things. People will still vote them.

Situation in singapore is different, they control everything and give you enough to pass by daily. So the people will not vote for change. Err.. I mean if they can vote.

Therefore, this crisis is unpecedent and worst ever, in my memory. I really wonder what PAP is going to do next. Even when I transit back, I can see things getting from bad to worse.

The one who really flare up is LEE KUAN YEW thus making use of his dogs to threaten bloggers and forummers.

Is LKY losing SPH faith as controlled media?

Indeed he has already, internet is another option to unblocked the people voices from SPH media.

Netizen in SG is such because of Dirty Harry's absolute control of media.

Since SPH and local media is not doing their job, the internet community will do it for them.

Beside senseless argument and vulgarity, there are also naked truth that the our Emperor refuse to see.

The naked truth on the Emperor's nakedness.

And Truth hurts!

Is it possible to describe in a few sentences how accountability and transparency is created in the regulatory system for Australia?

Hi folks, better cool it....big brother is damned pissed off this time......

Translated from Lianhe Zaobao

To those netizens who have hurling untrue accusations at others on the internet, they better consider twice if they think they can escape from the clutches of the law by hiding behind a cloak of anonymity.

Police inspector Huang Hong Guan stressed during an interview that all slanderers and flame-baiters on the internet will not be able to escape prosecution if the police found that laws are indeed broken.

Wah even teeny weenie police inspector now threatens us!

The govenment have no control over internet. People can read what they want. Now, they are trying ways to find ways to control the internet, without much success.

Again my guesses: reinstate their 20%, add on another 20%, Ho Ching for a major post, increase GST, increase public transport fares, increase water and electricity bills, reduce reported inflation to 0%. Businesses will say because of all these they must increase cost - increasing NETS charges, office rentals, etc - which creates another spiral. Publicity on why they are doing such an excellent job by being voted in continuously for 50 years in a row. And the rewards for Singaporeans? A clean, honest and transparent government who provide not just the basics but also the perks - F1, casinos, table tennis champs, no estate duty - all the things that go into making the wealthy into a nation.

I agree with raising of GST and giving themselves bonus. As for making singapore into a better place to live? I think only for the rich only. Not the poor.

Clean and honest govenment? Which govenment dares to say that other than PAP itself?
