SINGAPORE - An unemployed man beat his 67-year-old father and broke three of his ribs after the latter did not give him money.
Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News reported that the 37-year-old unemployed man had flew into a rage and started hitting his father after he did not get the $2,000 he asked for.
The incident happened at a corner flat in Block 437, Woodlands Street 41.

When interviewed by Shin Min Daily, the old man said that his son had returned home drunk and asked him for $2,000. When he said that he did not have the money, his son started hitting him with a chair and bottles.
He also said that his son usually received up to $6,000 a month from his siblings, but they had recently stopped handing out money to him.
A knife measuring approximately 20 cm was found at the scene of crime.

A witness said that the son threw a knife and metal sheets from the tenth floor at ambulances when they arrived. Vehicles nearby were damaged by the items that he threw.
After throwing the items, he went to back to his flat's window and started screaming.
Stand-off
Earlier today, an eyewitness had shot a video of a stand-off between the man and the police.

He is believed to have barricaded his door with furniture.
In the video, police can be heard shouting "Drop your weapon!" as they attempt to enter the man's apartment. He is believed to have use knife to attack the officers at least twice.
Bystanders also stood outside the apartment, telling the occupant to open the door.
The eyewitness who submitted the video to citizen journalism website STOMP said: "It is not known how the situation ended up but it is believed that the household has a history of domestic violence and the Police have visited the home on many occasions due to the calls from concerned members of the public."
The man has been charged for causing hurt to others.
Ex-fugitive
The old man said that his son came under bad influence while working in a bank in the United States after graduating from university there.
He took part in illegal activities in Thailand and owed up to $1.27 million in debt. He is also believed to be a convicted felon in the United States and returned to Singapore to escape punishment.
However, according to the Interpol, there was no records of this man.
