pinoys are not stupid. they are patient and bide their time. knowing the u.s. economy is not improving and not hiring, they prepare themselves in sg, gain experience, and earn money while waiting for the right moment to pounce. once the u.s. economy picks up, they'll be in the u.s. in droves, with sg passports, circumventing the already exhausted quota on immigration visas for filipinos. sinkies, on the other hand, are clueless about all the emigration rules, markers, tricks, laws, limits, triggers, deadlines, caveats, penalties, etc. these pinoys have them figured out.

the naturalization clerk doesn't have the time and brains to anal-yze too much data. all they do are authenticate papers, check quota limits, and rubber stamp for their supervisor to approve. for those from china, india, mexico and the philippines, the sg passport can do wonders. it does not matter where they're born nor how long they've stayed in sg. a valid sg passport is already proof of their sg citizenship, and the sg quota is very much less oversubscribed than quotas from the top 5 countries.

No big deal. There are Sinkies who still keep their Singaporean passport for some time while working & living in a foreign country to act as a safe net if shit happens in their new country. We all will want the best of both worlds, Sinkies or FTs.
