[h=2]Pinoy ‘FT’ wants to keep Singapore PR as a ‘backup’ for him to go to USA[/h]Posted by temasektimes on August 26, 2012

Are foreigners taking up Singapore PR and citizenship to use them as a springboard for greener pastures elsewhere?

This seems to be the case at least for a pinoy ‘FT’ who posted on a local pinoy forum asking how he can revoke his Singapore PR and withdraw his CPF if he is able to find a job in the United States:

The pinoy ‘FT’ holds an Employment Pass in Singapore and is currently looking for a job in the United States. He is keeping his Singapore PR as a backup in case he fails to find a job there.

Despite the government’s open-door policy to immigrants, it seem that few of them are serious to settle down in Singapore for good with many using Singapore as a platform to migrate elsewhere.

Recent statistics revealed that out of 1,200 Singaporeans who gave up their citizenship each year, 300 are new citizens.

There's nothing wrong with that. Mankind has been grabbing opportunities in order to progress since time immemorial. That's why we aren't still living in caves.

Surely you too would do what is best for your children and we all know that Singapore has no long term future.

If he is a PR, he won't need the Employment Pass. If he is an EP holder, he will not be paying CPF.

Not if they get off the boat before I do. LINE UP, I say.

Have added to your rep points. In Ah Tiong language, it's call 人不为己 天诛地灭.

The problem with Sinkies is that most of them have not bothered to get on the boat to a better life in the first place.

Why should Sinkies bother to go there when most of them LOVE Singapore ;)

you probably don't know that s'pore is now the envy of the whole world. ever spoken to pinoys and some of them think that the long hours here are also quite tough. US and europe are a bad idea for moving in now, many are shaking legs at home. The only place strong enough is australia and in the mining industry. when mining boom ends, i think it will also not sustain. unless, new migrants are as rich as you..haha...

pinoys are not stupid. they are patient and bide their time. knowing the u.s. economy is not improving and not hiring, they prepare themselves in sg, gain experience, and earn money while waiting for the right moment to pounce. once the u.s. economy picks up, they'll be in the u.s. in droves, with sg passports, circumventing the already exhausted quota on immigration visas for filipinos. sinkies, on the other hand, are clueless about all the emigration rules, markers, tricks, laws, limits, triggers, deadlines, caveats, penalties, etc. these pinoys have them figured out.

..............and Sinkees readily give these opportunities to these FTs without a fight.

I can understand LHL's frustrations with the xenophobia displayed by the ignorant masses. After all, didn't their forefathers do exactly the same thing.. abandoned the motherland for better opportunities provided by British colonisation of the Far East a couple of centuries ago.

Many Chinese settled in what is now Malaysia, called it home for many years and then moved again to Singapore after 1965 to enjoy the opportunities provided by the country's new found independence.

It is the children of these pioneers that are condemning the Pinoys for doing nothing more than what their parents or grandparents did a generation or so ago. If their forefathers had simply stayed put, they'd now be living in the pig farms of Southern China.

and i'm also not surprised that when the u.s. economy picks up, the sinkie quota for immigration visas will already be breached by the likes of these calculating pinoys, indies and chinkies who are quick and smart enough to seize sg passports. in a way, it may be great news for sinkies....these ft's may actually vacate sg and swarm the u.s., leaving sg a lot of room for new ft's to fit in. :p

like that, they probably have to wait for another 20 years before seeing full recovery in USA.:D

or worse. their daughters would be sold to snakehead syndicates plying the prostitution trades in angola, nigeria, tanzania, pretoria, etc.

The problem with Sinkies is that they are too afraid of admitting that they are inferior to the foreign talents brought in and lose their jobs.

oh yes, they can wait. and they'll milk sg down to the bone with welfare pressure. 20 years is not a long time to pinoys. 20 years to pinoys basically means 4 generations, 7 kids, 7 kids in law, 49 grandkids, 4 grandparents, plus 7 siblings and 7 siblings in law. now you know why any quota with pinoys in the mix is quickly exhausted. :D

So brave folks who made the leap, what's good for folks fresh off the boat in your locale?

I was very envious when I saw "newly-minted" citizens receiving their new NRICs and Certificates of Citizenship in a glamourous ceremony and glitzy atmosphere.

A far cry for we Singaporean originals who would receive a letter from "officious" ICA informing us to collect our son's NRIC.

We will then go to ICA, take a number and wait for that NRIC to be thrown at us.

Not even a comforting word like, "Singapore welcome you as a new citizen".

Two years later our son will be packed off to Pulau Tekong, where they will swear to defend and protect the Republic of Singapore and her Constitution.

Why are we originals treated like trash???

Are we not important to these country???

World of a difference from these "newly-minted" citizens, who even may have records as terrorists, robbers, sea-plunderers, ethnic-cleansers, etc...

Only honest Singapore Criminal Records office gives truly clear records when we ask for it, for migration, etc...

Are we sure that Pinoyland, Malaysia-Bolehland, Chinaland and Indialand gives such original records.

We so much of corruption, even a former terrorist, robber, sea-plunderer and etnic-cleanser will get a "crystal clean record from their gahments.

I am sure all knows how the ICA treats their own people.

Macham tayi............shit........sai........poo....urgghhh.
