Parents Complain about Jamie Yeo Promoting Pre-Marital Sex over the Airwaves

Redwire has received several emails from concerned and angry parents about radio deejay Jamie Yeo’s supposed promotion of premarital sex on air.

The Mediacorp Class 95FM deejay was talking about a study about how women who sleep more tend to have more sex.

She mentioned that for every hour that a woman sleeps, she’s 14 percent more likely to have sex thereafter.

Ms Yeo then ended her little bit of radio banter by saying “show this study to your husbands and boyfriends.”

That segment aired yesterday (20 Mar) at about 3pm.

Following up on the five emails Redwire received, it appears that parents took offence with the “boyfriends” bit which Jamie spoke about.

One Ms Lai said, “What’s she trying to say? That girls should sleep around more before they get married, and this is how they can do it? Come on, I’m trying to teach my girls the exact opposite!”

Another lengthy email from Ms Joey read, “This girl has no morals, she shouldn’t be put on a family-friendly radio station where children can be corrupted by this nonsense.”



Redwire reporter, Benita Aw, heard the said piece that was aired (Ed: Yes, Benita listens to Class 95. Bitch.)

She says, “I think Jamie was just trying to have some fun, but obviously some groups of people weren’t going to be very amused.”

A survey by the Institute of Policy studies last year shows that 1 in 2 Singaporeans feel that premarital sex is wrong.



In 2004, Medicarop deejay Sheikh Haikel was fired, after comments he made on his Perfect 10 show.

He told a listener seeking advice on how to approach a girl he fancied, that he should ask her if she was wearing white panties.

A listener complained about this in a letter to the Straits Times Forum Page.

The Media Development Authority (MDA) said the incident breached the Radio Programme Code.

Jamie Yeo has been in the news recently for apologising to ex-husband Glenn Ong for the breakdown of their marriage in 2009.

Yeo remarried ang moh Thorsten Nolte shortly after the split, and there was speculation at that time that she could have been having an affair.

Those rumours remain unverified.
