This is like the Eldercare insurance scheme where u have to be practically bed-ridden before u can claim...untill the chorus of complaints forced the gahment to make changes.

It is the same bs ...you won't get any help until you are broke ... like the case of the couple who had a disabled girl. They had to be driven to be bankruptcy before they could qualify for government assistance. Why should that be the case?

On the GST ...we know consumption tax is one of the worst tax as it makes the poor pay more proportionately than the rich. While $100 may mean nothing to the rich, it means a lot to the poor. A $100 in tax for a $1000 income is 10 percent while to a $10,000 income, it is a mere 1 percent. While the rich is paying more in absolute term but proportionally, they are paying a pittance. That's always okay for a government that supports the rich.

The government can refine the GST by exempting anyone who earns $1k or less on essentials like food bought in supermarkets. It is not difficult to implement.

Canadians also pay GST. However unlike in Spore they don't pay GST on groceries, medication, children related items, education related items,....

It's obvious that the GST is used to help the "poor" in Spore The poor in white.

then mcsy not giving enough. i know of a middle age guy bedridden by stroke who now care by his unemploy parents who are in their 70s is only given $250 per month by mcys. adding in the $300 from the eldershield, that $550 for 3 people which one need constant medical care. make me wonder what will happen to him when his parents pass on.

Peppertail needs to understand the safety net in the sinkapore system. The safety is only good on paper.

he will never understand it until he becomes poor himself, much like our million dollar admin service elite scholars. nothing beats empathy like walking a mile in their (the poor's) shoes.
