If you are below avg income in Singapore life is a struggle. Low income the situation is quite hopeless - you will never in your life be able to own a car, raising a family is a tough struggle that gets tougher with each year, retirement is not possible...it is hard to imagine how someone in this situation can look forward to the future with optimism...in fact he has to constantly worry abt getting sick, gettng replaced by foreigners, and the sharp rise in cost of living that makes it difficult to make ends meet.

However, problems are now spreading to people with middle income. The COE near 100K and relentless rise in housing prices spells trouble in the middle class. The median household income is $7500 rising 13% in the last 5 yrs cannot keep pace with the double digit per annum rise in medical cost, COEs and housing. We are seeing great erosion now in the lives of those in the middle. Households earning the median income is seeing a deterioration in quality of life. Many will try to borrow to support their lifestyle but high debts can only end in grief. The more likely alternative is to downgrade from car to bus, aim for 3 RM flat instead of 5rm, stay class C instead of A when in hospital. Many here will say, still tolerable but it is a step back.

By looking at what is happening in the middle income, you can tell where the majority of families is heading and the direction is down. Normally the failure of a goivt to better the lives of the people is punishable by election defeat. However, the pap has suppressed the opposition to such an extent, and systematically weakened them so that the people's real choice is taken away....many will voite pap because they are afraid the opposition does not have the experience to be govt.

The thing is this....as things deteriorate yr after yr , there will come a point where anger over come fear and that will put an end to bad govt.

Many people grumble about their jobs but it seems most Singapore employees are satisfied with their lot and will probably stick with their employer for a few more years at least.

In a new survey, more than 70 per cent of the respondents said they are happy with their working hours and workload, as well as their career prospects and development.

Findings also indicate respondents are likely to stay in their jobs for five more years on average.

Age is one determining factor. Respondents aged 15 to 29 said they are likely to stay at least three more years, while those aged 40 or older will probably stay for at least seven more years, taking retirement into account.

3 Sinkies and 7 FT took part in the survey.

hahaha...probably so! I don't trust such surveys. don't believe what SG media say. Believe what you see and experience on the ground.

Increasingly SG media are being dumped by Singaporeans. SPH profits are dropping and if not for the "invisible hand" propping it up, SPH would not survive

I asked 6 of my friends how life was treating them in Singapore and all of them said it was great.

UMNO only got 40+% and still in power.
Singapore still have a long way to go.

You relied on the Shit Times to support you view? Pathetic. Also, and assuming you are really hiding in NZ, how would you know from afar ?

I spend a lot of time in Singapore as I still have Singapore assets.

The last few years have been very profitable both from an asset enhancement viewpoint as well as profitability. I cannot understand why any Singaporean would be unhappy given the abundant opportunities that the country offers.

I am enjoying life in SG and have a lot of good things to say about SG. But I can see that the pap is the problem destroying SG

Boss Sam,the trouble is that 61% but decreasing politically correct Singapore Citizens refuse to come to Sammyboy,so you are left with 39% but increasing politically Incorrect Spore citizens, Sad but overall correct long -term strategy,as usual in all your biz decisions.

Life is not as bad as Topsage puts in ..nor is it as good as Leongsam makes it out to be. That's life, sometimes it's great and other times it's the pits!! Anyway it's a even fight for GE2016, both sides got it's own hardcore supporters. It's the battle for the hearts and minds of the un-decided that will tilt the outcome. For me, I will throw in my lot for whoever gives me the best deal, ...wouldn't u do the same??
