one chat and you are sold? perhaps he is really a nice guy i dunno.....but its not the person......its the party that he stands for and toe the line he must........maybe the nice guy finally woke up liao

Yes, just one chat. I believe that is all that is required to get the measure of a person. The vast majority of sinkies have not had even one chat with any opposition politician.

You find that most PAP MPs are pretty much like that. They are politicians and the need to get votes. Since they have to grace such occasions, they might as work those who are there.

It is not confined to the PAP but you find that amongst nearly all politicians, lobbyist, those in sales missionaries etc.

The trick is to gauge them by their actions and their involvement in policies and execution of these policies.

If you read the interview he gave, and if you knew his family background, your opinion of him would change quite significantly. I found him to be rather manipulative and clinical in the way that he does things. He will rise to the top by sheer determination and no man is going to him back.

I've met Ong before at a small, closed-door meeting. This was just before last year's GE. After the meeting he took the trouble to walk over and chat with me instead of speaking to all the big-wigs. I was impressed by his amiability, humility and friendliness. He knows how to reach out and make even the most junior person in the room feel important. The irony is that somehow when on a broader stage, in the public eye, he radiates a different persona that many people find off-putting.

.

more like to stay neutral .

wife's company bid huge govt 's projects :)

Saw Ong's team mate Zainal Abidin Rasheed 2 months back at Kampong Glam having a hearty dinner with his family at this Middle Eastern resaturant..

Looked jovial and was obviously enjoying his expensive dinner with his large group of family members..

Its good that he was voted out.. He can enjoy more dinner time with his family..

There's something to be said for being authentic. Although, in our Asian society it does not seem to be very appreciated.

How about those who worked and worked and stood for every election but did not win. I think that is tiring also but what is the motivation?

Exactly, how many 5 years does one have?

Sitoh Yih Pin is the only PAP guy in PAP's whole history who won after 3 attempts. But I don't think he's either appreciated by PAP or admired by opposition supporters.

sources tell me he was already a manipulative politician wannabe in school. his dad's past must have played a big part in his life.

I wonder if related to the SMRT pay fiasco.

Nice to know he grew a conscience and realised it was time to stop being the PAP assistant Liar-in-chief next to Lim Siah Suay.

Aiyah........ losing GE means no chance for big fat pay. So why need to stay on in shithole earning pathetic wages?
1 mio or 3/4 mio or 1/2 mio bucks is not peanut to sneeze at!

Good luck to Ong & we hope to know soon how much he will be earning............ this will tell us his true worth..

He is obviously still well paid with many golden car parks & directorships........... maybe makes more than his old job

STYP won because Chiam left and let his wife take over PP.

If Chiam is still running at PP, STYP wont have been erected.
