Najib apparently said he will announce something big month in a meeting with LHL...

lets hazard a guess on the annoucement:

a) 3rd link via a underwater tunnel to be built
b) no need passport to travel between mudland and singapore
c) can trade CLOB shares again
d) Malaysia to send one team - MudXIII to play in S-league....
e) they going to build a waste water treatment plant in the Marina Bay area on land given by Singapore government in exchange for Keppel Railway Station.

any other guesses?

If there's to be a merger, hypothetically speaking, who will rule the new country? UMNO or PAP?
 
My good guess is a MRT link between sg and jb.Najib is facing an election soon ,therefore he cannot announce anything that upset his chances in Malaysia or Johor.His announcement must been seen as benefiting Malaysian voters.Particularly UMNO stronghold in Johor.

My guess...
1. doing business and travel between two countries will be make easier and less hassle.
2. more service can use cpf across causeway ?
3. more mrt/train to come to ensure both countries has positive growth in construction sector
4. more collaboration; singapore has talent and management service, malaysia has people and raw materials. together we prosper ?
5. citizen can stay longer than 30 days restriction, old folk can stay longer without worry about visa expiry every month if retired there.
6. capitaland partner uem for big project in nusajaya ?
7. tourism partnership to make tourist stay longer .:D
8. whatever it is , must generate $$$ for both govt.

Seriously, they'll jointly announce the merger of KLSE and SGX to form the mother of all casinos in this region. Consolidation among exchanges is inevitable.
