they just moved in next door about a month back, when my ex-neighbour moved out.

when they came to view the flat i saw them husband, wife, and kids.

they moved in last month. now, no trace of the family. instead it looked to be leased out to about 10 myanmar labourers, based on the faces i could see going in and out of the flat.

i hate to see my next door flat turned into workers' quarters, and obviously the hdb flat is just an investment vehicle for the myanmar chap who bought it, pricing it out of reach of singaporean families who need it to live in.

how is this allowed to happen?

How many rooms flat is that? There is a limit to the number of people living in one HDB flat.

In addition, are they staying there?

Gather some evidence e.g. pictures of the workers going in and out, diff faces each time the better.. and send them to the HDB complaining about the possible change of use from residential to commercial (as in workers' quarters).

If you can, install secret cams outside yr door. The small ones used in CCTV which you can buy from Sim Lim. there are systems that take pics only when there's movement and you can save on hard drive.

complain to HDB

it is perfectly legal as long as the number is within HDB limit

learn to make new friends instead of being so full of trouble

............how is this allowed to happen?

The answer is simple-the 66% who voted for them asked for it.

Even the low end condos are now affected.
Some have more Indians(from India),Filipinos and PRC's than locals.

The only way to reverse this slide is to send a strong message and make sure your vote counts.

HDB flats turning into squatters for fallen talents is becoming a common thing these days, simply bcos its quite lucrative. imagine a 4 room HDB, assuming 1 of the rooms is locked up, there're 2 more rooms vacant. needless to say, the masterbedroom with attached toilet can fetch a better rent too.

each room equipped with 2 sets of double decker beds & single locker/wardrobe... means can accomodate total of 8 tenants. assuming each tenant pays a monthly rent of $300 = $2400/mth. the amount already more than covers the full rent & utility bills for the entire apartment.

some dont even give them beds, the tenants sleep on thin mattresses that can easily be stored nicely into the store room/ scdf chamber... leaves little/ no trace of the actual number of occupants.

even if the landlord decides to pay a levy to HDB, there's little or nothing that the authorities can do to ensure nobody abuses the system
