Saturday midnight show or good Chinese kung fu Movies , always make us extra cash, selling tickets double the price.....song song y y.

Curious as to what you did if you couldn't sell those tickets? :)

Those days got midnight shows, hawker stalls opened until the wee hours, shops that were opened until late at night. The night was alive

Nowadays everyone must rush to catch the last bus :D

This must be late 70s early 80s. NTUC Taxi is all light blue with the words at the side. No fancy logo.

SBS Bus - this type from Bristish leyland the most popular ... quite bone-shattering when the drivers speed because the sliding windows normally rattle in their tracks ....

My case slightly better than yours, got enough $ for dinner .... but pak tor pak to until past midnight, with mid-night surcharge $ no enough ....

Lan lan my brother help by coming to drive us & help me send girl home ... malu :D

My version of having to call for help, at that time no cell phone, we have to use the public phone wasn't easy, finding one that is working was another story. It was Christmas early morning after a celebration with gf at a disco in orchard rd., never mind the midnight charge, there were more people than taxis..walked all the way to Selegie Rd....finally found a working pay phone, knew that my neighbour would be home by then 3am...got him to drive down to fecth as home...really embarassing...swore that if I have to do this again..I get transportation in advance...

:p

Good shot of the Wisma Indonesia on the right.

In the background on the right is the Ngee Ann buidling. Back then it was a highrise with apartments & shops at the ground level including Mont'Dor.

Found image from google ... but Josephians will recognize the school stamp ... the principal then was Bro Joseph Kiely ! And 1C11 stands for Sec 1 Chinese Class 11 .... I know becos I also from SJI mah !

Then how racist can you get ? From sec 1C1, 1C2,.... 1M5, 1MC6 ,.....
serious, I kid you not.... 1M5 mostly all malays in that class, !MC6 very funny, got malays & chinese about 50:50, funny thing was then nobody felt anything untoward everything was just .... so normal.

That's truly color-blind in terms of race matters :D !
Today, all that would be politically incorrect .... old SJI boys of that era will concur.....

Yen San Building still standing today in 2010 coming to 40 years now from 1970 or thereabouts ... the Wisma indonesia has that Chinese niteclub 'Hai Yen' ... to its left is the Orchard Rd Police Stattion - now Ion orchard...

In ACS if one were taking bahasa melayu or Tamil they put the students in the same class. There were some who took mandarin but they had to go next door whenever it was time for 2nd language lessons.

The success of this thread obviously means that this forum is infested with old farts.

Shouldn't be a surprise as Spore is greying & its usually the older Sporeans who are worried with what's going on in Spore.

Thats where Citibank used to be located,

Glad they relocated to MacDonald House which is more convenient if you use the MRT.

Well that guy who owned the SJI bus pass might remember being told that behind the walls on the right of the picture was temptation to SIN.
