Manchester United Season 2009-10

I think that the present Manchester United setup is better geared for ECL than EPL, just like Liverpool 2005. Not really that strong indepth for weekly consistency all season long, but strong enough to concentrate on about two games per month even against top opponents. That said, I still think that it's a minimum EPL 3rd place for Manchester United with a high chance of winning ECL.

Berbatov now in mafa wars with Nikoleta Lozanova
September 2, 2009 |

Now its Berbatov who wants some action from model Nikoleta Lozanova and as Poor liverpool keeper Nikolay Mihailov found out you dont want to go there!

Her boyfriend, Georgi “The Head” Stoilov - a mobster with a reputation for extreme violence - was furious when told of suggestive naughty text messages going on.Berbatov, has been dating his partner Elena Shtilianov on and off for three months and there is talk of pregnancy in the air.

The gangster replied to the texts warning Berbatov to keep clear for his own good.

Friends of the stroppy Bulgarian striker have dismissed Nikoleta as a “fantasist”, who invented the rude text messages as a means of winding up her volatile partner. Berbatov, meanwhile, admits to meeting the nude model when she was with keeper Mihaylov, but insists that “nothing happened”. (The Spoiler)

Berbatov you naughty boy!:rolleyes::p

Wayne Piew is right on the money!

There was a slight scare for Man U when they were leading 2:1 in the 2nd half and Paul Scholes got sent off. But Wayne Rooney settled issue.

Interesting news for Man Utd fans.
Reported on soccernet that David Silva would be interested in joining the red devils.
He would be a very useful player, extremely skilful and creative and a hard worker as well.

Any thoughts on Fergie's team selections for the games against Spurs and Besiktas and this Sunday against Man City? I don't think much of him as a game strategist (think Rafa is better at this) but he must be one of the best man and team selectors and "rotators" around.
Against Spurs, he played Giggs, Rooney and Fletcher the whole game. Scholes got sent off. Anderson played most of the game. This was after a tough international week whereby Giggs, Scholes and Anderson were not involved, and Nani and Valencia had tough games and travel.
Against Besiktas, he played Scholes the whole game since he is suspended for Man City. He played Anderson the whole game, I bet you he will be on the bench against Man City. He took off Rooney and Carrick to rest them for Sunday (and to put on 2 strikers in Owen and Berbatov). Giggs and Fletcher did not even travel.

I think that Fletcher, Giggs, Carrick and Rooney will all be starting against Man City, perhaps with Berbatov and Park. They should go for the win as early as possible as City are short of firepower upfront.

i hope and pray that Traitor Tevez
gets slaughtered by the Theatre of Dreams faithful,
thats if he got the guts to play.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Carlos Tevez of the shocking treatment he's in line to receive from the Old Trafford faithful on Sunday.

The forward jumped to the blue side of Manchester after Ferguson could not assure him of playing time. The move has proved an acrimonious one as both player and manager have traded unpleasantries in the press.

Fergie has gone on to minimize the Argentine's threat, labeling suspended ex-Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor as City's true danger man.

“It doesn’t bother me one bit [if Tevez plays],” the United manager said. “Their best player is not playing. Adebayor has been their star player, no question about that.

“He has scored in every game and that is a loss really.”

It's been revealed that City paid £47 million, not the widely reported figure of £25.5 million, to the owners of Tevez’s economic rights to bring him to the Eastlands.

Ferguson reacted with amazement at such a fee, and wasted no time in once again calling Tevez's usefulness into question.

“If we had wanted, seriously, to buy Carlos Tevez, we’d have been more serious,” Ferguson said. “We made an offer that was well in the compass of the player’s ability.
“When I read now that it is not £24 million, it is £47 million, there is no way we could even think about that. I thought £24 million was the figure. Obviously it wasn’t.

“City had obviously agreed it long before the end of the season. That goes without saying because they [Tévez’s representatives] never came back to us. It doesn’t smack of desperation. It just tells you how much money they [City] have.”

Tevez is listed as very doubtful to take part in the match because of a knee complaint, and may have to accept his verbal abuse from the bench. Due to several injuries and one very notable suspension, Craig Bellamy is City's only available first team striker.

Latest on Traitor Tevez:

The Argentine is battling to overcome a knee injury in time to face his former club, but he returned to light training on Wednesday and City manager Mark Hughes will postpone a decision on the fitness of the £25.5 million forward until Sunday morning.... [Telegraph]

Sparky needs to ask that wuss
if he still have both of his balls
on Sun morning.

Heart stopping match. Initial euphoria from Roon's early goal vaporised with Foster's fumbling (to be fair, contributed by defence error).

Biased maybe, but thought red devils came on strongly 2nd half. All but denied by Given. And Ferdie's error for last minute regular time goal. Thank goodness for Owen's, with deserved victory. Though Hughes had plenty to berate ref for too much time added on:rolleyes:

bro yinyang,
it an thrilling match,fully agreed
but like you mentioned, the injury-time is way out. 4 minutes of injury-time became roughly 7 minutes and the winner was scored in the 95 minutes 25 seconds.

as mentioned in sbf,to win the league, you need a lot of luck. this type of incident is one of them.

The ref's argument would be that before City scored their third goal, it was already decided that there would be 4 minutes injury time.
After they scored the third goal. he added another 30 seconds.
When United made their third substitution, he added another 30 seconds.
When United scored their fourth goal, he added another 30 seconds.
Not saying that this is right, but that would be the argument.

Great derby match, and a deserved yet lucky victory for United, but I think this match revealed a few things.

1. Tevez handled himself very well throughout the match. Was booed throughout the match, but didn't hold any tantrums or got into any trouble. Shows how people can be different in seemingly similar situations.

2. Owen may still be a great goalscorer, but the most important thing about him is that he's unfazed about playing for such a big club. On the other hand, it begins to appear that Foster is fazed about playing on such a big stage. This may seem strange given the departures of Ronaldo and Tevez, but the most important addition to United could actually be a new keeper. People like Casillas, Valdes, Cech, etc aren't going to be available, so Fergie should look at players like Lloris or Mandanda of France, Asenjo of Spain Under 21, Neur or Adler of Germany.

3. United need another superstar to help Rooney and to cushion the ageing legs and impending retirement of Scholes and Giggs, who in my opinion, was one of the best players in the match. David Silva of Valencia may be available.

4. Ferdinand is showing signs of becoming unreliable, with his frequent injuries and his lapses of concentration during games. He's not as good as many people (including even himself and Fergie) think he is.

BC, cannot agree more with jw5's objective arguments (err, defence) on precious secs. That's also looking with red tinted lenses (unlike my chelski kakis cursing away). Sorry, the ref didn't walk alone this time:p:wink:

Fazed? This is a striker who scored against Argentina and Brazil and a hat trick against Germany. What can faze him? Of course, age and injuries are catching up and slowing him down. But certainly unfazable under whatever grand atmosphere or pressure. Instead, I think all Manchester United's opponents will start to faze at the 60th minute if he's brought on.
