A man working near there told Shin Min Daily News that he saw three big men shouting at the victim.

He said: "The men looked like they were in their 30s. They wore long-sleeved shirts and caps and two held 50cm-long metal bars."

He added that the victim was hit on his head and body, but couldn't fight back as the attackers were too strong for him.

Lianhe Wanbao reported that one of the assailants used a 10cm-long knife to stab the victim five times on his left arm, while the other two punched and kicked him.

It is believed that the victim used his hands to try toward off the stabbing.

An unnamed witness said the victim is a frequent patron of the coffee shop.
