Following the bloody attack at Viktor-Adler-Platz in Vienna-Favoriten—in which two men remain in critical condition—another shocking act of violence occurred overnight into Sunday: An altercation in the Leopoldstadt district ended in a knife attack that left several people injured. One victim is fighting for their life.
According to preliminary information from the Vienna Police, a 19-year-old Syrian national allegedly drew a folding knife during an altercation on Taborstraße and injured four men aged between 18 and 22. A 21-year-old sustained stab wounds to his upper body and is in critical condition.
Officers from the Praterstern Police Inspectorate became aware of the incident while on patrol. Initially, reports suggested a brawl; however, upon arriving at the scene, the situation was revealed to be a knife attack. Consequently, additional police units from the Inner City and Brigittenau City Police Commands were alerted.
