The suspect, an Italian-Moroccan, wanted to attack in the city center with a knife
Police in Reggio Emilia and Bologna have arrested a 22-year-old Italian man of Moroccan origin, accused of recruiting for the purpose of international terrorism. Investigators learned that he had expressed a desire to go downtown armed with a knife to harm others. When taken to police headquarters, it emerged that he had been in contact with a suspected Daesh supporter, who had offered to train and finance him to carry out an attack, either in Italy or abroad. He allegedly agreed, declaring himself a supporter of the Islamic State, as he has done in the past. The arrested man has been sentenced to prison.
