Man, 48, charged with murder of 70-year-old man after alleged fight in Lorong 16 Geylang
The older man was allegedly the suspect’s former employer.

A 48-year-old man will be charged with murder after a 70-year-old man died following a fight in Lorong 16 Geylang.
In a news release on Mar. 9, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said the suspect will be charged in court on Mar. 10 with murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code.
If convicted, the offence carries the death penalty.Police alerted to fight in Geylang
Police said they were alerted to a fight along Lorong 16 Geylang at about 8:15am on Monday (Mar. 9).When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 70-year-old man injured.
He was taken to hospital unconscious but later died from his injuries.
A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was also taken to hospital while conscious.
Preliminary investigations found that the two men knew each other, according to the police.Investigations are ongoing.
Victim reportedly a former employer of suspect
Earlier reports indicated that the incident involved a dispute between the older man and a former employee.
The altercation reportedly escalated into a physical fight, with the elderly man suffering severe injuries.He was initially admitted to hospital in critical condition before later succumbing to his injuries.
Emergency services had responded to the incident and both men were conveyed to hospital for treatment.
