Man charged with woman's murder at Yishun flat last week

A man was charged on Thursday with the murder of a woman at a Yishun flat last week.

No plea was taken from P. Mageswaran, 46, who is accused of causing the death of Madam Kanne Lactmy, 62, at a flat in Yishun Street 81 between 8.34am and 12.27pm on Dec 9.

The woman was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where she died at 1.30pm. It is not clear if the two parties are related.

Mageswaran, who was arrested on Tuesday, is being remanded at Central Police Division lock-up for investigation. The case will be mentioned on Dec 26.

The penalty for murder is death.

A man accused of murdering his godmother in Yishun was remanded for psychiatric assessment on Thursday.

P. Mageswaran, 46, was charged last week with causing the death of Madam Kanne Lactmy, 62, at her flat in Yishun Street 81 between 8.34am and 12.27pm on Dec 9.

Madam Lactmy was found lying on the floor of her four-room flat at Block 875 on Dec 9 and was pronounced dead in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital at about 1.30pm.

The case will be mentioned on Jan 16.
