Joo Chiat murder: Deceased woman, 43, reportedly a mamasan, her son, 2, was in house with 2 maids when body found
The woman was reportedly found with a fatal neck injury and the man she was with has left Singapore.
The 43-year-old woman who was found deadin an Everitt Road house apparently worked as a "mamasan" in a Chinatown nightclub and the man whom the police are investigating was her boyfriend who has left Singapore for China, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The deceased, Yu Hui (transliteration from Chinese), who reportedly went by the stage name "Anna", lived at a Lotus @ Joo Chiat house with her partner, their two-year-old son, and two domestic helpers from Myanmar.
She was found dead at home on Sep. 15.
The Singapore police are investigating a 40-year-old man for his alleged involvement in the case.
He had apparently left Singapore before Yu's body was found.
According to sources close to the couple, the man left Singapore for a southern city in China, Shin Min reported.
Foul odour
The victim was reportedly a Chinese national.According to neighbours, the family were quiet and not very sociable, and the man was shy and reserved.
The two foreign domestic workers were often seen caring for the child, who was close to them.
Woman found in room
Yu was reportedly discovered dead in a room in the house.A domestic worker, who lived in a neighbouring apartment, told reporters that the two domestic workers would only enter the room to clean it at Yu's request.
As Yu had an erratic daily schedule and her boyfriend was often away from home, the helpers did not know anybody was in the room until they detected a foul odour coming from it.
They then contacted the property management, who in turn called the police.
A resident who lives behind the apartment where the incident occurred said she heard from her neighbours that the police were asking if anyone noticed any noise on Sep. 11 night.
She was of the opinion that something could have happened days before the woman's body was found on Sep. 15.
Shin Min reported that the woman's two-year-old son was in the house and had spent four days on the premises while the body was in the room.
The boy was uninjured and was brought to hospital for examination.
The two domestic workers have also been removed from the premises and housed elsewhere.
Lover's quarrel?
The deceased was reportedly found with a fatal neck injury, apparently inflicted by a knife.She also reportedly had wounds on her body.
It is believed that she was involved in a lover's quarrel, Shin Min reported.
Complicated relationship with man she was with
Sources close to the deceased said the man she was with was already married, and Yu's relationship with him was complicated.Yu apparently had close relationships with many men.
When reporters visited the nightclub where Yu worked, the manager said she had stopped turning up for work a while ago and become uncontactable.
Her colleagues only learnt of her death after the police visited, he said.
He added that Yu was approachable and well-liked by colleagues and patrons.
Her boyfriend was also a former regular customer of Yu's, visiting the nightclub multiple times a week and spending lavishly with a large group of patrons he brought with him.
"Everyone knew he was Anna's customer and would not go over to entertain him," a source said.
Yu apparently referred to the man as her husband on some occasions.
The man, reportedly a commodities trader previously, had reportedly lost his job and been out of work, sparking rumours that their dispute could have been over financial matters.
Police investigations are ongoing.
